While Big Bear works, Little Bear patiently plays his bear games all by himself. What he really wants, though, is for Big Bear to play with him. Will his wish ever come true?
Little Bear wants to play, but Big Bear has things to do. So they decide to do them together. They fetch wood and water and tidy the cave, but Big Bear still has things to do, so Little Bear has to go off and play on his own. Finally Little Bear's wish comes true and the day has an idyllic ending.
Martin Waddel代表作《Can’t You Sleep, Little Bear》,以怕黑为主题,勾勒出大熊与小熊之间亲密互动的故事,之后因此发展出一系列亲子共读的Little Bear系列。韦德尔的作品在孩子的情绪和互动反应上,尤其能呈现微小却饱满的情感,有着男性作者少见的母性细腻。而大人与小孩关系的处理也成为他作品的一个特色。
Martin Waddell is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest living writers of books for children. He has won many awards for his work, including the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2004.
