When Piggie sees Gerald with a big bandage on his nose, she asks, "How did you break your trunk?" It's a long story. First Elephant tried to lift Hippo with his trunk. "Is that how you broke your trunk?" Piggie asks. No, there's more. Then Rhino came by, and Gerald lifted him with his trunk too. But even that isn't what broke Gerald's trunk. Gerald's story grows longer and more ridiculous as the book goes on and is topped off by a silly twist at the end. This may well be the funniest Elephant and Piggie yet!

-- My 4 year old finds these and most of the Elephant Piggie series hilarious! (So do mom and dad) It's the first series he can read on his own. It's the perfect length and word choice is fantastic. We have most of them now in the hardback format which definitely adds up cost wise, but if you can order through Scholastic, they have them at a much better price in paperback. Keep in mind the Scholastic paper stuff is truly that.... paper thin. So make sure your kids are gentle on their books. "I will take a Nap" is another favorite!
