I had never heard of this series, so if I had not run across it at a books-and-mortar bookstore, I would not have thought to buy it. But, it caught my eye one day, and I leafed through it, mesmerized. The illustrations are brilliant, beautiful, and bright. The "shimmery shiny" umbrella just adds enough something to make every illustration jump off the page. You just want to crawl into the pictures in this book and take refuge from the rain with Little Hedgehog. The story is completely engaging, and my 3 year old loves it, every time. We will be getting the other books in this series, but note: Why is there no autumn version? Would love to see one!
